Walker Jewelry Artist Mart

Well, it doesn't feel like spring around here (its snowing!), but its time for the Walker Art Center's springtime Jewelry Artist Mart.  I'll be there with lots of new work and some older staples too like moon necklaces and flag and gem necklaces.  Here is a little sneak peak of new ones - low-hanging necklaces with lots of gems, studs of all sizes and shapes, and some exciting new earrings with simple geometric elements.  See you there? Here are some shots from Anonymous Choir's recent 2 week Southern/Southwestern tour. They are in no particular order, but I feel like they represent the whirlwind beauty of traveling with 11+ of your best friends and a few new best friends. We also had the great pleasure of traveling with Josh and Jesse of North America for a few days. In addition to being two of the funniest people I've ever met, these identical twin bros seriously know how to make me dance. What an intense and inspirational time, thanks buddies!

From Minneapolis to Colorado Springs, Ojo Caliente, Albuquerque, Marfa, Austin, New Orleans, Memphis, Columbia and back.  I stopped taking photos somewhere along the way... It just didn't seem like my camera could really capture it all...

Now I'm headed to Arizona for 10 days! I'll try to be a more diligent photographer this time around.

for this weekend!

Lots of new things in the works for 2 special events this weekend- The Mill City Market (jewelry), and my Studio Warming + Valentines Sale (jewelry + incense).  The incense is finished, and I couldn't be happier with the results.  Maddy designed the beautiful packaging, and I think the total package turned out so cute, thanks Maddy! I get so stuck in my jewelry world I rarely have time for side projects.  I told myself after the crazy holiday season I'd take some time and make incense.  I'm so glad I did.

And... jewelry!  Moon studs, moon necklaces + bracelets, lots of colorful gemstones, textural silver rings and bracelets, and new hoops.  I hope to see all of you in the coming days!

good scents

 

I have long been obsessed with scent, and these days I can't seem to get any work done in the studio without a candle or incense burning.  I like to burn only the most natural incense for an early, purifying scent.  Here are a few of my favorites - Juniper Ridge of course, Ancient Forest, and Earth Church, which may be the best name ever.  The smudges are collected from co-ops and herb shops from all over the country, they are one of my favorite things to collect. I burn them on a beautiful ceramic "print" by Wisconsin ceramicist Ken Keppers. The little cones are left over from my first attempt at incense making a few years ago, they are made from cedar wood powder, white sage, and pine pitch.  I have a new batch of my own incense in the works - more on that later...

green winter

I moved my studio recently, and I have very slowly been decorating.  Today I got a holiday gift in the form of a shelf for my plants (thanks Matt!).  I think they'll be happy there, and I'm forever grateful to have some greenery around in the winter.
